About the Producer

Sertaozinho is a Brazilian coffee with the comforting richness of cocoa and brown sugar, followed by a sweet note of plum. It’s an approachable cup with just enough fruit to keep things interesting.

This Yellow Catuai coffee comes from Sertaozinho village in the mountains of Minas Gerais. More than 100 smallholders make up the village’s coffee community, with farms averaging just 1–2 hectares. Cherries are picked on the steep slopes around the village and brought down to family homes, where patios and shared driveways become spaces for drying coffee. From there, it travels to a central collection point.

Women are at the heart of the village’s coffee production and community work. Maria Paula Rocha helps connect the growers with Ascarive, the Fairtrade exporter that checks, sorts and cups the coffee before export. The village pools its Fairtrade premiums for shared projects chosen to benefit the community as a whole.

Grown and dried with the help of families and neighbours, Sertaozinho is a coffee shaped by the people who live there.
